A.
Admission Requirements for the Four Year Full Time Degree Programme:
Candidates seeking admission into
this Programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At
least five ordinary level credit passes in WASC, WAEC SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE/GCE,
or at least five credits passes in Teachers Grade Two (TC II) examination or
its equivalent recognized by the senate of the University of Benin at not more
than two sittings. The subjects should include English language, Physics,
Chemistry, Mathematics and any one of the following subjects Biology or
Agricultural Science.
The Unified Tertiary
Matriculation Examinations (UTME) subjects are Use of English, Physics, Chemistry
and Mathematics
B.
Admission Requirements for the Three – Year Full Time Degree Programme (Direct
Entry):
In addition to requirement in A
above, candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be
considered for admission:
(i)
At
least two advanced level passes in the General Certificate of Education (GCE)
or Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent recognized by the senate
of the University of Benin at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include Physics and
either one of Chemistry or Mathematics.
(ii)
At
least a merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma only in any of the
following.
a.
Analytical
and Industrial Chemistry (DAIC)
b.
Science
Laboratory Technology (DSLT)
c.
Geology
(DIG)
d.
Computer
Engineering (DICE)
e.
Chemical
Engineering (DICHE)
f.
Maritime
Studies, Information and Communication Technology.
(iii)
Diploma
from other Universities recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin
with at least an upper credit level pass in the areas listed in B (ii) above.
(iv)
Ordinary
National Diploma (OND) with at least a upper credit level pass in Mathematics,
Statistics, Science Laboratory Technology (SLT), Geophysics, Geology/Mining,
Physics and Electronics, Polymer Chemistry, Computer Engineering/Science and
Surveying from any Polytechnic or College of Technology recognized by the
senate of the University of Benin.
(v)
Higher
National Diploma (HND) with at least a lower credit level pass as in B (iv)
above.
(vi)
Nigeria
Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least a credit level pass in Physics and
Mathematics or Chemistry or Integrated Science from a College of Education
recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin in addition candidates
should have at least an overall credit level pass.
(vii)
Graduates
with Third Class Honours Degree in Science, Engineering and Mathematics other
from a University recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin.
INDUSTRIAL
PHYSICS
A.
Admission Requirements for the Four Year Full Time Degree Programme:

Six-Year Part Time Degree Programme in Industrial Physics (BIP):
Candidates seeking admission into
this programme should possess any of the following qualification:
At
least five ordinary level credit passes in WASC, WAEC SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE/GCE
or at least five credit passes in Teachers Grade II Certificate examination (TC
II) or its equivalent recognized by the University of Benin in not more than
two sittings. The subject should include
English language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either Biology or
Agricultural Science subject.
D.
Admission Requirements for the
Five – Year Part Time Degree Programme in Industrial Physics (BIP):
In addition to requirement in C
above, candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be
considered for admission:
(i)
At
least, two advanced level passes in the General Certificate of Education (GCE)
or Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent recognized by the Senate
of the University of Benin at not more than two sittings. The subjects should
include Physics and either one of Chemistry or Mathematics.

University of Benin. In addition, candidates should have at least an overall
credit level pass.
(vii) Graduates with Third Class
Honours Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Engineering and
Mathematics from a University recognized by the Senate of the University of
Benin.
