MATHEMATICS

A.       Admission Requirements for the Four-Year Full-Time Degree Programme. (UTME)

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

At least five Ordinary Level credit passes in WAEC SSCE/GCE/NECO SSCE/GCE or at least five credit passes in Teachers‟ Grade II Certificate Examination (T.C. II) or any of the equivalent recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two sittings.  

The subjects should include, English Language, Mathematics, and any three of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science.

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) subjects are Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and any of Biology, Chemistry or Agricultural Science.

B.       Admission Requirements for the Three-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (Direct Entry)

In addition to the requirements in A above, candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission:

(i)        At least two Advanced Level passes in the General Certificate of Education (GCE) or the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or any of the equivalent recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two sittings.  The subjects should include Mathematics and any of Physics or Chemistry.

(ii)      At least a merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in any of the following: Data Processing (DDP), Science Laboratory Technology, (DSLT), Analytical and Industrial Chemistry (DAIC), Mathematics Education (DME), Computer Engineering (DICE), Chemical Engineering (DICHE) or Geology (DIG).

(iii)    Diploma from other Universities recognized by the Senate with at least an Upper credit level pass in the areas listed in B (ii) above.

(iv)     Ordinary National Diploma (OND) with at least an Upper Credit level passes in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Science Laboratory Technology (SLT), Geology, Mining, Physics and Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science and surveying from any Polytechnic or Colleges of Technology recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin.

(v)      Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a lower credit level passes as in B (iv) above.

(vi)     Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least a credit level pass in Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry/Computer Science/Geography from a

College of Education recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin.  In addition, candidates should have at least overall credit level pass level.

(vii)   A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree certificate in any of the Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Geology/Mining, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Microbiology, Optometry, Botany, Zoology, SLT, Statistics, Computer Science and Engineering) with at least 3^rd Class Honours from any University  recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin

INDUSTRIAL MATHEMATICS

A.       Admission Requirements for the Four-Year Full Time Degree Programme.

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

At least five Ordinary Level credit passes in WASC, WAEC SSCE/GCE/NECO SSCE/GCE or at least five credit passes in Teachers‟ Grade II Certificate Examination (T.C. II) or any of the equivalent recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two sittings.  

The subjects should include, English Language, Mathematics, and any three of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Economics, Financial Accounting or Accounting and Business Studies, Further Mathematics

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) subjects are Use of English, Mathematics and any two of Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science and Economics. 

B.       Admission Requirements for the Three-Year Full Time Degree Programme (Direct Entry)

In addition to the requirements in A above, candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission:

At least two Advanced Level passes in the General Certificate of Education (GCE) or the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or any of the equivalent recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two sittings.  The subjects should include Mathematics and Economics or Statistics.

(ii)      At least a merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in any of the following:

a)    Data Processing (DDP), 

b)   Computer Science (DCS)

c)    Mathematics Education (DME)

d)   Computer Engineering (DICE)

e)    Accounting (DIA)

(iii)    Diploma from other Universities recognized by the Senate with at least an Upper credit level pass in the areas listed in B (ii) above.

(iv)     Ordinary National Diploma (OND) with at least an Upper credit level passes in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Science Laboratory Technology (SLT), Geology, Mining, Physics and Electronics and surveying, Accounting from any Polytechnic or Colleges of Technology recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin.

(v)      Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a lower credit level passes as in B (iv) above.

(vi)     Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least a credit level pass in Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry/Integrated Science from a recognized College of Education recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin.  In addition, candidates should have at least overall credit level pass level.

(vii)   A Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) degree certificate in any of the Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mathematics Education, Chemistry Education and Physics Education) with at least 3^rd Class Honours from Universities  recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin.

MATHEMATICS AND ECONOMICS

A. Admission Requirements for the Four-Year Full Time Degree Programme.

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

Sc.) degree certificate in any of the following disciplines Economics and Statistics, Mathematics Education, Economics Education, Business Education, Accounting with at least 3^rd Class Honours from any University recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin

 

MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS                                         

A. Admission Requirements for the Four-Year Full Time Degree Programme.

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

MATHEMATICS AND CHEMISTRY

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

A. Admission Requirements for the Four-Year Full Time Degree Programme.

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

(vii)   A Bachelor of Science (B. Sc) degree certificate in Geography, Geography Education, Town Planning and Surveying, Regional Planning and Cartography and Social Studies Education with at least 3^rd Class Honours from any University recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin

STATISTICS 

A. Admission Requirements for the Four-Year Full Time Degree Programme.

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

At least five Ordinary Level credit passes in WAEC SSCE/GCE/NECO SSCE/GCE or at least five credit passes in Teachers‟ Grade II Certificate Examination (T.C. II) or any of the equivalent recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two sittings.  The subjects should include, English Language, Mathematics, and at least three Science or Social

Sciences Subjects or a combination of Science and Social Science subjects.  NOTE: The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) subjects are; a. Use of English, Mathematics and any two science or Social Science subjects or a combination of Science and Social Science subjects.

B. Admission Requirements for the Three-Year Full Time Degree Programme (Direct Entry)

In addition to the requirements in A above, candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission:

(i)        At least two Advanced Level passes in the General Certificate of Education (GCE) or the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or any of the equivalent recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two sittings.  The subjects should include Mathematics/Statistics and any other Science or relevant Social Science (Economics, Accounting, Geography, Business Studies) subjects.

(ii)      At least a merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in any of the following:

a)    Data Processing (DDP)

b)   Science Laboratory Technology (DSLT)

c)    Analytical and Industrial Chemistry (DAIC)

d)   Mathematics Education (DME)

(iv)     Ordinary National Diploma (OND) with at least an Upper credit level passes in Mathematics/Statistics and other Science or relevant Social Science subjects in B (i) above from any Polytechnic or Colleges of Technology recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin.

(v)      Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a lower credit level passes as in B (iv) above.

(vi)     Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least a merit level pass in Mathematics/Statistics and other Science or relevant Social Science subject from a College of Education recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin.  In addition, candidates should have at least overall merit level pass grade.

(vii)   A Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) degree certificate in Physics, Biochemistry, Mathematics Education and Physics Education, Integrated Science Education with at least 3^rd Class Honours from any University recognized by the senate of the University of Benin.
